Why the N series are unpopular because the lenses or the bodies?

both in certain respects

the supposed advantage of B bodies is the AF capability, but unlike competitors such as canon and nikon, contax's AF system is at an early developing stage

also, the zoom lenses can't invariably suffering from the golden rule that zoom lenses can't beat lenses with fixed focal length. the convenience of zoom lenses isn't appealing to contax fans here in most cases, i guess the reason is that contax fans lean more towards 'quality' rather than 'convenience', ie C/Y than N

in extreme cases, even the N 85 and N 100 does perform well in MTF diagrams, compared to C/Y 85/1.4 and 100/2.0

lastly, that, N lenses are not, and probably will unlikely be made in west germany...maybe one of the reasons

IMHO, and out of experience, the raison de reale is that N series just had not yet develop inot a system YET !!

The N lens are actually quite good and perform just as well and in many case better than C/Y lens. Whether they are made in Japan or made in Germany is of little consequence as a lot of veteran C/Y user do not particularly favor one over the others ( in Many case, the ' made in Japan ' items are better, the insistance on ' made in germany ' is only a fixation on outdated belief )

However, how can one really talk about the N system when there's about 2 body and might be 5 or 6 lens only .... Now if they should come up with a proper DSLR or more useful lens.

They don't even have a "on the way" list yet, are they really thinking to develop a whole system? Although I don't like keeping tons of lenses that I can't really use them all, but at least I really need a fix wide, say, a 20 / 21 / 24
