Hi! Would like to hear your opinions on the Zeiss 500f8 mirror. I had used Russian made mirror lenses before. Still prefer telephoto to mirror.

Easy to use in terms of weight? I guess at less than 1kg less mirror shake issues. But the f8 is my concern. But I am thinking more on tripod application than hand held application.

f/8 is really a shortcoming but "no needle have two ends sharp"..... I really like the "分散圈".

I asked around and was told that it can be very difficult to focus. I can imagine the viewfinder will be very dark at f8 for one... maybe there're other thing unique to mirror lens that makes it difficult to focus?

F8 is a fixed and u can note the darken result once u plug the lens in.

反射鏡大慨是比普通鏡難用。小弟只有 Mirotar 500/8 ，所以只能列出下列理由：
1) 恆定 8 光圈，靈活性欠奉。
2) 8 光圈對於 f=500mm 來說，景深還是很淺......
3) 但反射鏡要求極準確的對焦，相信比同焦距的「普通鏡」更加敏感......
(你又無法擰去「無限遠」然後拍風景，因為在無限遠後還附有額外對焦距離)
4) 不過恆定 8 光圈又令個 viewfinder 長期好暗 (故全磨砂片比列像更易用).......

結果是小弟不是每次都能成功對焦。

Yeah, point 3 is really difficult. I am glad that I still can deal with the lens now. hmm.... perhaps as years go by, I have to surrender la... :wink:

F8 is a fixed and u can note the darken result once u plug the lens in.


Of course I konw this lens is f/8 biggest.

I mean someone can use any C/Y lens to try the f/8 feel by preview button.

我只有Leica果支500反射(其實即是Minolta造的),脚架一定要,對焦没有難度,已經習慣了,就算加了2X也OK.因為景深淺,一對不準就好明顯 :lol:
