VS28-70 is one of the most trustful lens to me in the C/Y lineup. In fact it has very good performance and is useful all the way. The price was also very affordable in its class. When I was in Year 2, this lens together with AX served me well in big and small events. Out of my expectation, the quality of the pictures were so good even they were taken in adverse conditions, such as a nearly-darkness hall for inauguration. From this first hand experience I have a high regard to this lens.

I am asking why the f3.5 one has a remark effective 4.01, but the f8 one do not have.

That had nothing to do with the real f stop. MTF graph is measured against a set lens setting and all it does is that. It is not uncommon for lens labeled one f stop which happen to varies quite a bit.

As to why the MTF is setup that way, only the tester know why.
