i am using one. i bought it in hong kong and it costed me about 350. it's excellent from a functional point of view, except the fake leather part of the strap. indeed the only useful part of the whole package is the metal scissors-clips. unlike the original one, with that clip you can change whatsoever strap you like. i cut the fake leather part and replaced it with a nylon strap instead. this will last for ages.
Agree with you. Maybe the merit from this strap I can see is on the pair of alternative metal clip which can match with any straps you like.

the original one is very cheap (compared to the reference price)even if you buy it new in hong kong . it's about $600. but to me it's stupid from a functional point of view. i've heard that people using the classic ones but the leather got aged, brittled and eventually broken and the expensive rolleiflex had fallen down (and got broken).
I'm not sure if one can find a new original strap in HK now with $600.....
It is surprised to hear that if anyone can torture a leather strap until it is broken eventually. Perhaps this is an extreme case, showing the consequence of lack of maintenance. Leather definitely has its own life cycle. It works well under normal use with proper maintenance. I have several workable leather strap which one of them even aged 60yrs. When any kind of strap is aged, one simply got to replaced it with a new one. So I bet do disagree one can simply define which kind is better. To me, leather strap perfectly matches with vintage Rolleiflex cameras not only it works but also both represents the old things people love.
