would it surprise its quite obvious the E-P1 is just a stop gap, pushing the product out of the door ASAP so they can the first off the line. The old imaging engine, the crippled AF all pretty much tells .. how much the EP-2 differs, not really much, just pretty much what the EP-1 should had at the first place

This one is still to my eyes just not quite there yet .. but at least the color is better this time around

I am really impressed with OM for its fast reaction in this M4/3 wave - OM is really leading the game for the moment.

Product life cycle has never been so short like nowadays and so the key to conquer the market is more on response time than quality. Ultimately it is just a relatively cheap stuff less than US$1000 ...

I take a different view.......and certainly agree with Franka

The EP-2 is still inferior than GF1 on specification, not to mention the lens line-up for Olympus.........still not as promising as Panasonic.......

Yes and agree totally that on spec EP-2 is lagging GF-1 ... but sometimes it is being the first to conquer, not being the best. Of coz for long term sustainable market share, quality still matters ... yet people are short term now ...

Classic example is we all had waited too long for Contax to produce a DSLR ... and then when it was born ... Contax died. I still think N1D is an excellent but too late camera. Of coz Contax has many other reasons of dying, but being late in responding to market needs is one of the most important reason.

Well true if, and only if that first off the line and the advantage can be maintained. Olympus lost that right from the start when Panasonic launch the GF-1. The E-P2 is catch up now. While the EVF on the E-P2 look set to better the GF-1, ultimately such form factor demand more than just that. The low rez LCD, the inferior AF, and in general inferior Video all made the Olympus half baked.

Its now rumored that Ricoh would had a LVIL not much larger than their GX and Sony might be fielding a similar ( with decent lens instead of sloppy ones ) the whole game is yet again turn against Olympus. I too use Olympus DSLR, but that it is true the Mfr keep trying to catch up but always field a distance apart, and when they finally find a corner to cut across, they play it badly.

Olympus just fail to take part and utilize the advantage of their expertise and the form factor. The Micro 4/3 is a nice one to had, but its hardly likely going to give Oly the much wanted market penetration. Especially when others pitch in also.
