I kind of doubt that, even the lens on Panasonic for the Leica ( even the one for the Leica Digilux-2 ) are purely Panasonic ( even leica admit that publicly ) and the only issue with the leica name is Panasonic buy out Leica right to use the name and emply leica optical design criteria and QC ( not bad )
So see this, there's really several key aspect of this deal
- Synergy product, which probably mean Olympus can benefit from Panasonic's technology - say OIS incorporated Zuiko Digital Lens
- A 4/3 system DSLR for Panasonic, Panasonic had the money and technology but not the experience and know how of a system SLR, so Olympus can help them out
- for Kodak / Fuji / others 4/3 partner, that mean a broader reach of the system ....
- Panasonic, not having any previous burdon of a SLR system, can turn the tabvle around and produce some amazing 4/3 camera with consumer oriented approach
- And finally, Leica is not there to want the money for 4/3 lens, they already figure they can get more by simply farming out the name and technbology. Even more so, they want the money from R-9 with digital Module R and lens to go with them ..... and then the digital module M possibly
