i had owned a Mamiya 645 Pro before. I bought a eye level finder, a body, a magazine and 2 lens. the reason i bought it was because of its low price and bigger film size that i wanted to try ... but ... after only 2 rolls of films, i sold the whole set out. this was because apart from a bigger film size, i was not used to the colour tone that Mamiya lens gave me ... maybe i was so used to carl zeiss that i cannot accept other lens anymore.

my 1st 645 experience was so painful, that's why i was hesitated to try even Contax 645

Raimondi, before you sold your Mamiya 645 stuff, you should try put on some East German Zeiss lenses and see the result. I saw some decent used E.German Zeiss in TST, most of them cost less than 3000 dollars and I GUESS they should give you similar picture quality as West German/Japan Zeiss lenses?!

By the way, anyone has any experience with East German Zeiss lenses? Their price tag really sounds like a bargain to me!

不過我覺得 Xpan 鏡 sharp 過 M7 II + pana adapter 囉

但計起成本效益，M7II好似好抵，又中底又panorama! 聽見都想要！

Both are manual focus with aperture priority. Seems XPAN II has more automation and is easier to use. M7 II has different metering mode with different lens and one reviewer has problem with focusing the 150mm lens. M7 II obviously has a more comprehensive family of lens.

But given that one has a reasonable ability in mastering a manual camera, M7 II should have a higher value for money.

My opinion doesn't really count because I do not own any of these two cameras and I have no hands-on experience in taking panorama / MF pictures. All I know I gathered from articles on the web and seeing the pictures posted.

I do not dislike the colour tones of either camera. In fact, in some of the sites I viewed, XPAN II's pictures are very sharp and colourful, though I have no idea whether they have been modified. Pictures taken by the M7 II are usually scenery and colours seem accurate and natural.

I have looked at and held both cameras. XPAN II is beyond criticism with its Ti body (TX2 is even cooler with the black colored). That said, Mamiya is also very solid, though it is indeed a plastic body.

I like the feel of M7II more because I have very big hands. It is not heavy with its size. XPAN appeals to me because it looks cool, girls will like it more.

I have a Phenix 50mm so the XPAN normal frame is useless to me. Like u said, 16K for a panorama camera seems too expensive. I will not buy the 30mm lens even though I have the money. It is just too expensive and I would be stupid not to use the money to buy, say a G2 set or a Hexar RF.

I wonder where they sell a hong goods in HK. M7II = great value for money !

If I need Panorama, I would go buy a Bronica with the 35mm panorama film back ( 24 X 54 = 2:5 aspect ratio ). You can have numerous lens choice.

Or go for Large format

Beats me. Like I said, everything I know about panorama and MF are from the Internet and books. FR is the expert and he has always been constructive in his opinion.

Then, I do believe an amateur who wants to try out panorama or MF once in a while may resort more to cameras like the kits of XPAN II, M7 II or Bronica RF645. C645 is also a good choice though it is already kind of big and expensive.

Enough bullshit from me. It will be a long time before I think I am good enough to touch anything beyond a SLR.

XPAN II or TX2 ? there is a 4K difference ! Or have u considereded Franka's opinion - a Bronica with a pano filmback ?
