I agree very much with this attitude. Actually, I regret having put in the investment in all digital gears so far. Digital stuff changes so fast and in 6 months time, you'll look like a fool with the outdated model. In comparison, film machines hold the value at least!
Now that can be an interesting insight to our mentality on the matters. Do we trying to get a photgraphic tool or do we want to invest in a piece for collection. Needless to say, Digital evolve a lot and fast , true, but that does not made them DC obsolete. My 10 year old Kodak DC-120 still work today, my 2 MP DC I've got years ago still work and ws still delivering pictures. Knowing their limit, of course I will not be asking them to produce print for 8X10 or so. Lets put it this way, even film gear do not hold their value, how much a Hassy body lose value or a leica from new signal that. I think its very much a romantic self illusion a lot of phto hobbyist placed upon themselves.
However, this newer generations of DC worth a different set criteria. First their data density is high enough that one can expect to print to size of A3 or beyond. The key issue of todays better DSLR / DC is their RAW capture. For a photgrapher who are willing to do their own digital darkrooming ( not Photoshop tweaking ) , its very much like wet darkroom art.
Price is a matter of what it count against like of like. But as a serious photographic toool , the GR-Digital is OK priced. At least its not crazy like the Epson R-D1 ( which I think is grossly over-priced ) or the Panasonic LC-1/Lerica Digilux-2 ( which is certainly over-priced by a minimum of 25% )
As a film and digital shooter, I am keenly aware of both camp of arguments. But one thing I've since observed is film photgrapher tend to judge Digital phtography from a film usage point of view, and digital photgrapher do that like vice from the oppsosite way. If one should do that, one will always find indifference within their reasonign why one would see analog is better or digital is better. My own though on that is both are simply too narrow minded and failed to see the real picture up front.
