Just bought a used Rollei 35RF with a 50mm Planar for US$249 in a camera store in Chicago. Everything works fine except that it has a dusty viewfinder and the aperture ring of the lens is stuck at 4. Because of its bargain price I do not plan to repair the above shortcoming.
I like this Rollei kit very much as it delivers photos with excellent sharpness and resolution with a somewhat Zeiss taste. It is lighter and easier to carry than the Nikon F100 and its lenses which I used to carry with me almost all the times before I acquired the little Rollei.
Now here is my question: I want to replace my Nikon system by the Rollei 35RF. I plan to add several lens such as 28mm, 90mm but the focal selection dial in the camera shows only 40mm/50mm/80mm. Is it true that the camera is limited only to these 3 Rollei lenses? Can I use other M-mount lens such as Leica's 28mm and 90mm on this camera? Please help!! Thanks.
For sure, you can use all other M-mount lens! So, it just the matter that if your view finder frame line are able to display the actual "coverage" of that lens. In some case, you may need additonal vew finder to resolve this issue.
FYI, you may also consider the new ZM lens which approx. half price of existing new Leica M lens but at least deliver the same level of image quality or even better...
