1. D-76 and ID11 are essentially the same thing. i.e. they have the same formula. So, your first few questions are not questions at all.
2. Tri-x has more latitude for exposure. Whereas TMY, like deltas, are more demanding on exposure and development. Thus, would you use TMY or Tri-x for street photography as lighting condition changes from place to place? Another reason, Tri-x gives good tone more easily (if one is skillful enough, he gets any tone from any film, theoretically) and more importantly, some photogs like the grains in and softer look of Tri-x.
Basically, the BEST way to understand a film is to exposure, develop and print several rolls of it.
