Today I was doing some shoots around the flower show. I kind of debate whether I should go for Extension tube / Bellow with a shorter focal length lens vs Reverse mounting a lens , and that is for 6X6. I am looking at going over 1X with this. Actually I was thinking if I should instead used reverse stacked lens.

What , if anyone , had their opinion on which is being a better choice for going extreme Macro ( larger than life ) and your experience as well as why ?

I do not have much experience with 1x macro.

I used Contax extension tube set in 135 and extension tubes
in 120 Hasselblad.

The main problem with extension tubes is light loss and limited focusing distance.

For instance, with a 56mm + 16mm extension tubes + planar 80mm,
I get only (56+16)/80=0.9x magnification. I need +1.7EV. I can only
move my camera to and forth for a few inches. It limits my composition. I barely take any shoot in a Botany Garden with this amount of lost EV.

One possible solution is to use an external flash in A mode. It seems that jack.wong is using this technique.

Eventually, i give up all the tubes and simply buy a Pentax 645 body and a 120 macro lens for taking macro.
