How do I calibrate my scanner with Nikon Scan?
Thanks.
Google " film scanner profiling " and you would unearth loads of info. I am not familier with Nikon's software so I cannot comment on how they can or cannot do this. But do note Film scanned do produce an image file, but unlike JPEG from Camera, they are nit finished. What you need to do is correct for specific film type or specific frame inside your scanning or image editing software.
For quick and dirty trick, shoot a couple of frame using Sunlight and a Kodak 18% gray card, set yoour correction curve ( on the scanning or Image editor ), scan the frame with both the frame and surrounding unexposed area. set white point to the outside and the gray point to the 18% target, the curve produced is the correction curve you need to save for that kind of film ( different film need different curves )
