ZF紅外線鏡頭：

Following the great success of the ZF lens series in industrial applications, Carl Zeiss now announces an additional model. The ZF-IR lenses were developed for special applications in the near infrared range. The Planar T* 1,4/85 ZF-IR and Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF-IR are the first products in this special series of the familiar ZF lenses.

The Planar T* 1,4/85 ZF-IR and Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF-IR lenses offer all the benefits of the ZF series. They feature a high-quality mechanical design, and their optical elements are made entirely of glass. The lenses are extremely fast and provide excellent contrast. The all-metal focusing device ensures precise and easy operation.

A special coating which is transmissible for wavelengths up to 1,100 nanometers is applied to enable photos in the near infrared range. Of course, the focusing scale has also been matched to this wavelength range. The ZF-IR lenses from Carl Zeiss are suitable for use with special cameras (IR cameras without a barrier filter). Application fields of technical IR photography include, in particular, forensic police tasks.

this implies the other ZF series lens elements are not made ENTIRELY WITH GLASS ??? Optical Plastic lens elements ????

I think what they are implying is ta marketing manner. Forget about Optical grade plastic, in these size, the plastic is even more expensive than the Glass ( optical grade ). The advantage of the Optical grade plastic is always the capability to be molded and its relative lightweight, not cost nor easy of manufacture.

In fact even consumer grade lens seldom use Optical grade plastic, the most widely used is in single use camera where the small size and ease of manufacturing and cost in term of reduction in manufacturing process far outweight the total vs using glass. And Hybrid aspherical surface which is actually Epoxy / Resin instead of plastic ..

ANd BTW, in early ZF promotion material, Zeiss say the same thing, All glass elements and Metal focusing assembly ... so these are probably just the same quote used all over again, yet a marketing need as so many people simply believe in the Myth of Plastic in Consumer optics ( in fact their major use is in industrial optics )
