I take it that Nikon doesn't have it's share of problems like soft focus issues, etc.

I will not. This is like buying a video recorder and use it to capture still photo... Well, it is just not good enough to replace the other, though it is a start.
haha.. I WILL switch to Canon partly because of its video capability. It will not be the only reason, but certainly one of the reasons. I think my main concern more is: Canon has been constantly leading the game in terms of innovation and technology in recent years. Surely Nikon D3 was a product of the year, but I don't see the edge that Nikon really over other companies.
And another reason of switching to Canon is that I can use my old Leica R lenses. The new ZE with electronic contacts is more attractive than ZF.
Of course, as Terry said, probably D900 will be a even better product. That's why I will still wait a bit. After all, Canon's back focusing issues and lens quality is still my concern..
