Guys! You all forgot the question?
Why is ZM50/2 priced higher than Contax G45/2?
They both use lens from ZEISS, assemble in Japan by Japanese manufactuers. They are both Planar with 6 elements.
G45/2 is only HK$1xxx new!!!!
Those who said ZM50/2 priced resonable is like saying "ZM50/2 is three times better quality than G45/2!!!!!!!!??????"

It is hard to say whether it is reasonable or not. The market will tell. Different people had sifferent perception of quality and price.

However I would like to point out that the relationship between quality and price is not a straight line, but an exponential curve. ie. 10% increase in quality would mean maybe 30% or more increase in price. so u cannot say 3 times higher in price then quality has to be 3 times better.

From another angle, you can say that the G-lens are unreasonably cheap! So better go and collect the under-priced G-lens! I am doing this now! 8)

The ZM lenses are superior than G lenses in many aspect.......

The focusing lens barrel with coupling mechanism for the rangefiner, the shape of the aperture blades and the 1/3 click stop of the aperture ring, as well as for the overall finishing.................etc

When we compare with the Yen price:

G45/2 = 37000 yen

ZM 50/2 = 75000 yen

The selling price should be 2 times only instead of 3...........

yes. actually the design concept is totally different too.
ZM is originated from cinema or movie taking lens.

That's the point! Did you ever see "CNMP" user using the word "poisoning" like we do?
We, as user of Contax/Zeiss Ikon/Hasselblad/Rollei/Leica.......are very different.......... 8)
