Actually a common problem with just about all DSLR today in their default setting but then todays DSLR all had different tone curve and Sharpness/Saturation/Contrast control ... even the most elementary models. Won;t be a problem so long the photographer take control of the tool

The photos from 5D MKII are really not bad! But it seems that still need to shoot RAW and to remove the typical "greylish" feeling on the colour tone for most Canon DSLR.........

Dynamic Range is still the weakest link for CMOS

BTW, #13 seems especially bad.........lack the "texture" as shown in the other photos by P50/1.4

And I especially like #2..........for sure I mean the background

Its not the lens nor the CMOS , actually todays DSLR can easily muster 9 to 11 stop of light, so typically that's almost the same as consumer Neg film and certainly more than typical slide. What they do not had is the Shoulder and Toe response of film in their typical default setting for JPEG.

With Canon, if shooting JPEG, the right thing to do is to create your own PICTURE STYLE and download that to the camera. Those photo are not grayish, just flat in contrast and hue ( less than typical hue shift, in a word, more correct color )

I find it funny when people talk about this grayish from Canon, cause I shoot studio test sample using 5500K light source and calibrated color target, and for certain the 5D Mk.II is not grayish. What it is is just that it does not render color as film do ( most film had large hue shift and off saturation +/- ) and since peole are custom to the WRONG color as produced by film, the RIGHT color/tone as produced today by DSLR give that Grayish feeling instead.

If it were a few years ago I would agree with WAH, but todays DSLR ( Nikona & Caon ) had capability to accept customized tone curve so that was no longer a issue so long you fashion yours per your need.
